Customs You may import personal effects like binoculars, cameras and films temporarily into the country without a permit but a customs bond will be required for professional video equipment, musical instruments, radios cine and slideprojectors and tape recorders during your stay.

Banks Banks are open from 9.00am to 3.00 pm Monday to Friday. Some branches open on Saturdays from 9.00 to 11.00am. Many banks are now equipped with 24 hour ATM machines. The Bank brahches at Jomo Kenyatta International airport (Nairobi) and Moi International Airport both run 24 hour forex services.

Shopping Kenyan products are as diverse and unique as the country itself. There are traditional artefacts, excellent basket work, beautiful wood and stone carvings, fantastic jewellery and textiles, musical instruments. Visitors are advised to bargain; it is expected and rarelya considered offensive.
Tipping Tipping is not mandatory in Kenya. Guides, drivers, waiters and hotel staff can be tipped at your discretion.

Consumables in small amounts of one litre of alcohol, a quarter litre of perfume, fifty cigars, two hundred cigarettes or quarter kilogram of tobacco will be allowed duty free. Obscene literature is not allowed. Pets accompanied by a recent health certificate and special permission from the Commissioner of Customs will be allowed. These are , however, not allowed into the National Parks /Reserves.
Firearms cannot be imported without an import certificate from the Central Firearms Bureau (PO Box 30263, Nairobi, Kenya).
Departures In addition to the other security checks, customs officers may weigh and inspect all outgoing baggage. Departing travellers are therefore required to identify their baggage for inspection by the custom officers.
Please strictly adhere to baggage limitations as advised by the airline as excess baggage charges can be quite expensive. Airport departure tax (US $ 40) is included on your airline ticket.
There are duty-free shops at both Nairobi and Mombasa Airports.
